The Poplin is the Skirt of the Summer

I am OBSESSED with the poplin skirt right now — and it seems the internet is too. Vogue’s Kerry Pieri proclaimed, “first came the little white dress, and now, the easy, breezy white poplin skirt.” So, literally, the little white dress walked so the poplin skirt could RUN.
I have been seeing the poplin skirt around me—everywhere—all over my social feeds. It truly is one of the most chic pieces that can elevate any outfit to euro summer status. And, to be honest, the poplin skirt is the ultimate closet staple; you can run errands, go to the beach, go out to dinner, and do everything in between, and is therefore, as Pieri puts it, “the ultimate blank canvas.”
The classic, minimalist, breezy silhouette is probably what comes to mind when you think of a poplin skirt. But, right now, the market is overflowing with variations of this must-have skirt—drop waist, bubble-hem (or is it puffball? balloon-hem?), eyelet, A-line, pleated, elastic band, and more are readily available.
While the white poplin is the current talk of the town (and rightfully so), one of the best features of this skirt is that you can pretty much find it in any color; it can be a year-round closet staple, the ultimate versatile piece your wardrobe has been missing.
